Hyperbaric Testing

Master Flo Valve USA operates a custom-built Hyperbaric Test System in Houston, one of the largest of its kind in the United States, designed to validate the performance and integrity of choke valves and critical pressure control equipment under simulated subsea conditions.

This facility allows equipment to be tested at pressures equivalent to depths of up to 23,000 feet (7,000 meters) below sea level, reaching 10,000 PSI (690 bar). By insourcing this critical testing capability, Master Flo Valve USA reduces the risks, timelines, and costs associated with product qualification.

In addition to internal validation, Master Flo offers access to its hyperbaric testing system and technical expertise to customers and partners, providing a reliable and cost-effective alternative to offshore testing.

System Specifications

  • Volumetric Capacity: 167.2 ft³ / 1,250 gallons / 4,730 liters
  • Internal Dimensions:
     – Height: 89.38 in (227.03 cm)
     – Diameter: 44.00 in (111.76 cm)
  • Operating Pressure: 10,000 PSIG / 69,000 kPa
  • Equivalent Depth: 23,000 ft / 7,000 m
  • Operating Temperature: 28°F (-2°C) to ambient

Testing Capabilities

Our hyperbaric testing system enables:

• Simulation of extreme subsea pressure conditions
• Validation of valve sealing and pressure integrity
• Functional testing of choke valves under load
• Performance evaluation of trim and materials
• Identification of potential failure points prior to deployment

Why Hyperbaric Testing Matters

In subsea and high-pressure applications, equipment reliability is critical. Hyperbaric testing provides confidence that choke valves and associated equipment will perform as expected in real-world conditions.

This capability helps:
  • Reduce operational and project risk
  • Improve equipment reliability and performance
  • Verify compliance with project specifications
  • Eliminate the need for costly offshore testing
Applications
  • Subsea production systems
  • Subsea injection systems
  • High-pressure surface applications
  • Critical pressure control systems
