Master Flo Aftermarket Services department steps up big with major cost-saving solution
22 valves for an end user were destined for the landfill before Master Flo’s Aftermarket Services team stepped up to the plate with a masterful solution.
Over a year and half in the making, the successful conclusion to the saga was engineered through extensive consultation with the customer — and a healthy dose of design and manufacture innovation on the part of Master Flo AMS — says Master Flo Aftermarket Services Manager Chad Whitney.
“We went back and forth a number of times with the customer at various points deciding it wasn’t economically viable to repair the valves,” wrote Whitney about the 22 C3E Elevated Temps that were initially sent to Stream-Flo AMS before the creation of Master Flo’s own unit. “We persisted and worked with the end user on options to prevent their complete loss of these assets.”
Through their back-and-forth discussions, it was discovered the customer had a desire to standardize all the valves in their field, so Whitney and his team got to work.
“We were able to put together a proposal to retrofit the 22 C3E Elevated Temperature valves into an equivalent to their preferred C3E High Temperature design,” explained Whitney. “This retrofit will require the design and manufacture of three new parts but will result in a product that uses the same seal kit and internal parts as their standard C3E High Temperature design. It will fit in exactly the same envelope as well, making it a drop-in replacement.”

In creating the drop-in replacement, Whitney says the Master Flo AMS retrofit will save the end user roughly half of what it would have cost to buy 22 new valves to replace the old ones that were stuck in limbo.
A serious capital saver, and one that perfectly highlights the additional value Master Flo AMS can now offer customers through their extended suite of services beyond just repairs.
“We see retrofits, upgrades, and valve conversions as large potential growth areas for us,” summarized Whitney. “With these services, we expand on what it means to be a trusted partner and provider of solutions for the life of our customers’ assets.”
